Zarda(sweet pulao) best recipe for festivals.

 Sweet rice is also dessert rice may be many types. But in this recipe I share my favourite sweet rice known as zarda in India. Zarda is common dessert used in various marriage parties and festivals or everyday. I gave you my mom recipe which have amazing taste. 





Sweet rice is dessert made from rice, sugar, and sometimes additional ingredients like spices, nuts, or dried fruits.
To make 500g of sweet rice, you can follow these steps:

Ingredients:

- 500g Basmati rice
- 750ml water
- 250g sugar
- 1/2 teaspoon cardamom powder
- 1/4 cup ghee
- Nuts and raisins for garnishing , must
   use dry coconut
- 1 Orange

How to make it (Instructions):

1. Wash the Basmati rice thoroughly and soak it in water for about 30 minutes.
2. In a large pot, bring 750ml of water to a boil.
3. Drain the soaked rice and in separate pan add ghee then add cardamom .
4. After 2 min add soaked rice then  heat it in high flame for 2-3 minutes.
5. Then add boiled water in to it, boil for 15 minutes in low flame. Then add sugar into it .(can add zarda food colour)
6. Once the rice is almost cooked, mix drain any excess water .  And add orange juice or slice of orange.
7. Cover the pot with a lid and let the rice cook on low heat for a few more minutes until it's fully cooked and the flavors are absorbed.
8. Garnish with nuts and raisins dry coconut must for this recipe.
9. Your sweet rice or zarda is ready to be served!

However, it's tasty and amazing but due to having high  nutrients and high in added sugar. Consuming excessive amounts can contribute to:

- Increased risk of chronic diseases   like diabetes and heart disease
- Imbalanced gut bacteria due to low fiber content

- Brown rice instead of white rice for more fiber and nutrients
- Natural sweeteners like honey  instead of refined sugar

- Spices and flavorings like cinnamon and cardamom instead of added sugar.
